Professor Edward Brenya, a distinguished scholar and policy analyst from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been appointed as the new Council Chairman of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU).
The appointment marks a new chapter in the governance and strategic development of the University, as it continues to strengthen its academic, research, and industrial linkages.
Prof. Brenya serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Political Studies at KNUST, where he also coordinates the Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme at the Institute of Distance Learning.
He holds a BA in Political Science with Philosophy from the University of Ghana, and advanced degrees from Ohio University and West Virginia University in the United States, where he obtained both his MPA and PhD in Political Science.
Before returning to Ghana, he lectured at West Virginia University, further enriching his international academic exposure.
As Council Chairman, Prof. Brenya is expected to spearhead KsTU’s ongoing transformation agenda, driving reforms in governance, research commercialization, academic-industry collaboration, and community engagement.
Speaking on his new role, he emphasized his commitment to strengthening institutional accountability and enhancing research productivity to position KsTU as a leading centre of technical and professional education in Ghana and beyond.
University officials have welcomed his appointment, describing him as a strategic thinker and consensus-builder whose leadership experience bridges academia, governance, and policy implementation.
